Let's Go Fly a Kite

****video link above******
The Easter Bunny placed a Buzz Lightyear and Barbie kite into each of the kids Easter baskets just a few weeks ago. Since that day Casey has been asking every day when we can go out to fly them. There were many windy mornings but when the evenings came around we lost our breeze. Just this past Wednesday our opportunity to fly the kites arrived. It was blustery all day and we knew this was the night to go and give them a try. After finishing an early supper we opened the kite packages to get them ready. These kites were very different from the ones I grew up with. These kites were inflatable. Yep, each kid had a straw to blow into a small hole to add air to the kite. T
On our way to the park our windy day had seemed to go away. Chris and I looked at each other and thought, "not again". But we figured we would give it a try anyway. Well...it must have been a short calm before the storm, because within just a few minutes our blustery wind picked back up and both Barbie and Buzz were in the air. Unfortunately we had a malfunction with Barbie and she was losing her air and would not fly. There was a small hole deflating the kite. We tried covering it with tape but that didn't help. Casey handled it well and her big brother shared Buzz with her. They each had their turn flying and maneuvering Buzz in the sky. I can remember the joy, excitement and thrill I felt while flying kites as a child, and I could tell they were feeling the same. We wrote a letter to the Easter Bunny asking him where he got the kites so that we could replace deflated Barbie for Casey.
