Cakes and cupcakes....

In the past 6 months I've had a huge interest in decorating cakes. Too bad they are loaded with sugar and its not good for us to eat them everyday. But when I do make one I love creating a fun character. I started with Casey's 2nd birthday cake, Dora the Explorer (some of you have already seen these). I made it 2 times, the first a trial run and the second was perfected for her actual birthday party.

Later in the year I volunteered myself to make a cake for our friends Jen and Jim. Their son Jayden was having his 1st birthday. Wasn't that alot of J's??? I'm not sure if I have mentioned our friends the Kozlowski's. They are: Jen, Jim, Jacob (7), Josh (5), Jack (3) and Jayden (1). Yep, ALL BOYS! I know I would get tongue tied if I lived in that house for more than a day. Jayden's cake is a Baby Einstein Caterpillar. The best part was mixing all the colored frostings.

This past weekend I made an Easter Bunny Cake. It's frosted with Whip Cream then sprinkled with coconut. The last step is to top it with fun candy pieces to make the bunny face and bow tie. Our new neighbors Brian, Kristin and Alison (3) came over on Saturday night to enjoy this delicious treat with us.

Today I made some quick cupcakes to take to Jen's house as a treat for watching Jake and Casey for us while Chris and I went to our accountant to get taxes completed. I think all 6 six kids (their 4 and our 2) will love biting into these fun cupcakes.

Have any of you made fun cakes? I'd love to see them.
