Bunnys, Eggs and Treats Galore

Saturday 11:30pm: Because we received 3 inches of snow and it was bitter cold outside, Mommy and Daddy hide 40 plastic eggs filled with treats around the living room and kitchen. They carefully place empty Easter Baskets outside each child's room. Mommy's tapes bunny footprints starting in the upstairs hallway, down the steps and into the hallway leading to the living room and kitchen.

Sunday 5:00am: Jake wakes up Mommy and needs to use the bathroom. Mommy helps him to the potty and tucked back into bed without noticing the easter basket outside his door. Whew, that was a close call!

Sunday 7:45am: Jake (carrying his easter basket) wakes up Mommy and says: "I gave Casey her basket". A groggy mommy doesn't realize what's going on, but then realizes that Jake found both baskets, went into his sister's room to wake her up (which he is not allowed to do, but since it was a special day it was okay). When mommy finally gets out of bed she finds two very interested kids looking at the bunny prints left on the hallway floor. Mommy says in a surprised voice "Where did those come from?". Both kids answer "The Easter Bunny". Mommy tells them to wait a minute while she gets dressed and wakes up daddy. After 2-3 minutes pass by Mommy and Daddy start to head downstairs but do not see 2 little kids waiting by the stairs for us. Their anxious minds could not wait for mommy and daddy to get dressed. It was very sweet that they took matters into their own hands and followed the prints into the living room. We get downstairs and see that their baskets are half full of eggs and they shout "Look Easter Eggs!".

Sunday 7:55am: Two very excited kids dive into their baskets eating as many yummy Easter treats as they can: Jelly beans, marshmallows and gummy life savers.

Sunday 8:00am: They moved onto the Easter presents left on the fireplace mantel. With 2 pairs of wide eyes looking up they ask for their gifts. There was a gift each from the Easter Bunny (puzzles) and a special Easter goodie bags sent to them from their Grandma and Grandpa Webber. Inside their bags were tootsie rolls, reeses pieces, chocolate eggs, a wind-up hopping bunny and baby chick.

Sunday 8:10am: As we move into the kitchen to make cinnamon rolls and fruit for breakfast Jake and Casey notice another surprise left for them by their booster chairs. Each was given a packet of Easter stickers and paper. The Easter Bunny planned this as a quiet activity to take to church later that morning. Also another wrapped present from Grandma and Grandpa Webber. It was sidewalk chalk shaped like eggs and chicks. Both kids wanted to use the chalk immediately but with the cold temps mommy and daddy told them we'll need to wait until summer.

Sunday 8:30am: We enjoyed our Easter breakfast and talked about the fun Easter Egg hunt.

Sunday 10:30am: We head to church (all dressed up) with sticker activity packets in hand. The plan worked and the stickers packets kept them entertained and quiet for a good chunk of the Easter mass.

Sunday 12:30pm: We get home from church, have a light lunch and put the kids down for their naps. Mommy rested too and finds out 45 minutes later that Jake chose not the sleep and was sitting in the hallway listening to his daddy work in the basement. Later that evening he felt the effects of not taking his nap that day and was cranky and exhausted by 6:30pm.

Sunday 4:30pm: Casey is up from her nap, Mommy asks Daddy to take the kids into the master bedroom so they cannot see what is being hidden in the house. Mommy collects items for an Easter Treasure Hunt. Each child is given a clue (shaped like an easter bunny). The clue tells them to go to a spot in the house to find another clue. After 4 clues are found a Easter treasure will be waiting for them. Casey started upstairs and her clues took her to the downstairs bathroom (find the place where you wash your hands before dinner), inside a kitchen cabinet (this bunny loves noodles and cheese, it took her to the macaroni and cheese boxes - Casey's favorite meal), the upstairs bathroom (now that we ate our noodles we need to brush our teeth to make them clean) and the ending spot on her bed where her PINK EASTER BUCKET was waiting for her. On the bucket it read "Chicks Rule".

Jake started in the kitchen and his clues took him to the entertainment cabinet (this bunny loves to watch a movie with a blue monster named Sully), entry way closet (after watching a movie this bunny wants to go outside for a walk, what do I need to put on before we go out), inside a kitchen cabinet (burr, it was cold outside, I need a hot drink to warm up - hot chocolate) and ended in his bedroom closet. Jake's last clue read: Find a book about a boy and a silver bell (his favorite the Polar Express). He sprinted upstairs and went to his bookshelf inside his closet. Sitting next to the Polar Express book was his new GREEN EASTER BASKET (it read: "Chick Magnet"), but he was too busy and excited looking for another bunny clue that he did not see the bucket. Mommy says "Jake look in your closet again". Jake goes to his bookshelf and AGAIN does not see the bucket (it was right in front of him) but instead finds the other Polar Express book (we have 2 d versions) and skims through the pages looking a clue. AGAIN Mommy tells him to look in the closet. The third time in his stares at his books and says "Ohh!" and finds his basket. It was very funny. He was determined to find a bunny clue that he blocked out everything else. He liked the treasure hunt very much and wanted it to continue on. I'll have to do something like that again for them.

Sunday 4:45pm: The kids dig through their buckets and find more sidewalk chalk (I guess Grandma Webber and I had the same idea!) , marshmallow treats, a DVD. Casey received headbands and Jake received bubble gum. And the most loved item was a pair of kid friendly chopsticks from the Mongolian BBQ a restaurant mommy ate at the night before with Jen. They also received a Easter card from their Grandma Wes filled with a special note, stickers and money for their college savings.

Sunday 6:00pm: We enjoy a yummy dinner. Not a traditional Easter dinner, it was chicken with asparagus tips in an alfredo sauce over penne pasta. Ymmm!

Sunday 8:00pm: The kids are bathed and ready for bed.

Thank you very much to the Grandma's for sending out Easter treats and cards for the kids. Jake and Casey sent their grandparents Easter Bunny picture frames with a photo of them. Hope you all liked them.
