Thursday Night Bunko

For about the last 3 years (has it really been that long,...i think it has) I have been part of a wonderful group of gals who meet the last Thursday of each month to play Bunko. It's a fun dice game that doesn't require much thinking, just lucky rolls. While rolling the dice and keeping score we're able to hold multiple conversations with each other. Because we all know women are the best multi-taskers.

Our original group consisted of 16 gals, I knew about half of them through my MOPS group and others were friends of the hostess who started the group. A little over a year into it half of the group decided they didn't want to play anymore (no particular reason, it just ended up being a scheduling issue). The women that did stay were close friends of mine and we enjoyed this once a month girls night out so much that we didn't want it to end. I took a lead role for our group and worked hard to recruit new players to get our numbers back up to 12 and maybe even 16 again. We struggled for a few months and instead of Bunko we played board games (the night we played Pictionary was a riot). Eventually we got our numbers back up to 12 could play Bunko again.

Our current group of women are awesome. We can talk and chat about anything and usually our conversations get so hilarious that one of us is about to pee our pants. Most of the women are mothers so we can relate with each other on a variety of topics. Since we have 12 regulars in our group we each take a turn as hostess and rotate at each others houses. We each bring an appetizer and come ready to have a good time.

Oh.. and I almost forgot to mention. For fun we each put in $5 into a money pot. At then end of the night based on our score cards we can win some cash. I've come out big on some occasions taking home up to $30. Not bad for a girls night out. And of many nights I have come home empty handed in my wallet but felt very refreshed and rejuvenated mentally after a great night out with my girlfriends!
