Bedtime Songs

We have two identical musical boxes attached to the kids bed rails. They have each had these since infancy and require them to fall asleep at night. They even traveled with us on vacations to Wisconsin, Kentucky and Florida. The music box plays 3 different songs and some nature background sounds.

But only ONE song has been, and will always b, their favorite - Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. Every night at bedtime after giving them hugs and kisses we sing them their song. Sometimes up to 3 times in a row. It's even a requirement of our babysitters to know how to sing it. After a while the Twinkle Twinkle song gets old and we needed to mix it up. So instead of Twinkle Twinkle we started singing ABC's. Then came Baa Baa Black Sheep. They all follow the same tune. Next we sang all 3 in a row each and every night. Jake requests to hear his in a specific order, Casey likes to choose the random mix.

This has gone on for about 4 years now and we were in need of a change again. In the past six months Chris has written a few songs of his own that go with their tune. I am so impressed with them I wanted to share them with you. The kids adore them and request them each night. Here they are:

This one is for Casey. It is about her favorite yellow Care Bear named Sunshine:
Sunshine is a very loving bear
And she has such pretty yellow hair
She will give you a hug through the night
And be right by your side until the morning light
Sunshine is a very special bear
Anywhere you go she will always be right there

This one is for Jake:
Here come the heroes walking down the street
Boy I think they are really neat
They can fly around and save the day
If there are bad guys they'll make them go away
Here come the heroes walking down the street
Boy I think they are really neat

One more for Casey. She's in love with the little mermaid Ariel:
Mermaid, mermaid swimming in the sea
How I want her to be a friend to me
We can play all day in the sea or on land
Then we'll sit and talk on the beach in the sand
Mermaid, mermaid swimming in sea
How I want her to be a friend to me
