Last month our neighbors were kind enough to loan us their train table with tracks and trains from the Thomas collection. Since then Jake has become obsessed with train sets. He plays with them everyday and insists that we play with them too. He has certain rules with his trains (you can only go forward, no crashing into other trains, and he always gets to have the Gordon engine). There are some days when he wakes up in the morning and the first thing he says is "play choo choos".
I heard about an event featuring Thomas the Tank Engine and knew we had to get tickets for it. We went last Friday (8/25). It was Jake's special day. Daddy worked a half day and when he got home we all drove up to Flint, MI for the event held at Huckleberry Railroad. Jake was thrilled to see a life-size Thomas the Tank Engine. We took a 40 minute train ride in train cars from the 1800s (led by Thomas) through the park and town. It was beautiful. Jake and Casey enjoyed the ride. Afterwards we got off and snapped a few quick photos of Thomas. Next we were off to a few events. They had a craft tent where Jake was able to make a Thomas art project. He glued a train and railroad tracks to some paper and colored it. He also rubber stamped a train picture. But his favorite part in the tent was a huge table set up with an electric train track. He sat and watched the trains go by for 15 minutes. We walked around the grounds and took photos of Jake next to train murals they had setup. We saw an inflatable Percy and Sir Tophamm Hat.
It was an amazing day that I know Jake will remember for a while.
