Michigan State Fair

Last Saturday we joined our friends Bruce, Christi and Griffin at the Michigan State Fair. Since Chris and I moved out here 7 years ago we've never been to the State Fair. We sure were missing out on alot of fun stuff. When we left the house it was a milestone moment for Casey because she's old enough to have her carseat facing forward. There are so many new things for her to see now and she enjoys her new view. Our first stop at the fair was the Miracle of Life tent. It was filled with pregant cows, pigs, sheep that were due to have babies the week of the fair. You can stay and watch for as long as you want and possilby get the chance to see a live animal birth. Nothing happened while we were there but we did see a baby calf (only a day old), 16 piglets, and baby sheep. Jake was able to pet the calfs, sheep and baby chicks that were just born.

Our next stop was to see a circus show. We didn't know this event was at the fair and just happened to run right into it before the show started. It was a fun filled event with jugglers, a clown, acrobats and elephants. We then walked around for a while and stopped at the petting farm tent. Jake and Griffin were able to feed carrots to a variety of farm animals (I don't know the name sof them all).

Now our tummies were growling so we stopped for some fair food. It was delicious. We enjoyed corn dogs, fries, pulled-pork sandwich and a sloppy joe. During our dinner a parade was forming so we took the kids to see a marching band and bagpipers. They really enjoyed the parade.

Our next stops were the chicken and bunny house, horse stable and dairy building. We got to see all the animals up close and personal. Too personal at one point where I wheeled the stroller into a pile of cow poop!! Yuck. It took days to get the poop and smell off our stroller.

At night we walked through the rides and games area to let the kids soak in the night life experience of a fair. It was a wonderful afternoon/evening out with our friends and we will for sure be going again next year.
