Let's Party

This is what I have been busy working on most of today (along with cutting up a veggie platter, fruit bowl, laundry, and general house cleaning). Very, very early this morning after my workout I baked two 12" round cakes. Later Jake and Casey helped me make 4 batches of buttercream frosting (I make a lot because I don't want to run out while decorating). Next I mixed all the colors (red, blue, skintone and purple). I cheated with the black and bought black frosting out of a can. While the kids napped I frosted the cake. I thought it turned out OKAY. Not as perfect as I like it. Do you like her Jay Leno chin? Overall I'm happy with it. To liven up the edges I stuck gummie fish for a border. I thought about making waves with a lighter blue, but I stopped myself at deicided to leave it as is. I don't want to attempt something new (like piping waves) and risk ruining it all.

I'm headed up to birthday girl's room (she's waking up from nap) to bring her down to see her beloved mermaid cake. She's been waiting all day for it!!

........She loved it. She was smiling from ear to ear with happiness. She told me: "GOOD JOB MOMMY".
Yeah, success.
