Summing Camping

On Father's Day weekend we spent two nights at a campground just under 2 hrs from our house. It was a wondeful drive up the coast of Eastern Michigan alongside Lake Huron. After many years of trips to Wisconsin to see family and driving for 8+ hours each way it was a nice treat to be at our camping destination so quickly.

Chris and I both grew up camping with our families. It's a great way to relax together and enjoy the outdoors. We're excited the kids are ready to start camping with us. Now that they are out of bottles, diapers and cribs it makes it so much easier to do something like this.

We had a fun time all weekend. Highlights: Taking a 90 minute hike on a nature trail in the woods and over ponds and bridges, Daddy's teaching Jake how to cast a fishing pole and taking him fishing for the first time, Casey swimming all by herself (well almost, with a life jacket on) in the pool, and cooking hot dogs and marshmallows (on a stick) on the campfire.

After our return Chris announced right away that it was a great family getaway for us and we'll be returning soon for another adventure.
