Happy Thanksgiving!

We enjoyed a very quiet, relaxing Thanksgiving in our house just the 4 of us. In the morning the kids and I baked a pumpkin pie. Jake and Casey couldn't understand why we didn't eat it for breakfast. We sat and watched parades all morning (we had thoughts of going downtown and seeing the Detroit parade but the weather was crummy and we heard it's a parking mess, we chickend out and will save it for another year). We watched our beloved Packers beat the Lions along with a craft project with the kids. We made our own Indian headpeices. The kids and I danced around like Indians (I couldn't figure out how to make a pilgrim hat).

I picked up a Turkey Dinner at Boston Market (it was a nice treat not cooking) with green beans, sweet potatoe casserole and mac n cheese for the sides. Jake very much enjoyed the turkey and Casey liked the sweet potatoes and of course the mac n cheese. Our pumpkin pie topped with whipped cream was a yummy treat at the end.

Friday morning I was up at 4 am with all the other INSANE shoppers getting presents. This is the first year I've attempted going shopping on Black Friday and will probably be my last. It's a nut house. There was line 1/4mile long outside of Toys R Us at 4:30 am that morning (doors opened at 5am). My friend Jen asked if I would go with her and I wanted to see what it was all about. We stayed in our car until 5am an then stood in line for 15-20 minutes. When we got inside we were lucky enough to grab the LAST shopping cart they had. I headed for the Thomas wooden trains (buy 2 get the 3rd free) and to the LeapFrog stuff. My friend Jen who has 4 boys, was off finding all the items on her list. After 20 mins of shopping we started looking for the line to checkout. We got in line at the BACK of the store and they weaved us through all the aisles to the front (it took about 45-50 minutes to get through). While in line, Jen was able to zip around the store picking up more items from her list. Overall is wasn't so terrible, and I had thought about heading to the mall next but when I looked at the chaotic traffic mess in the parking lot I said "NO WAY" and headed home at 6:30am. I'd rather be home making an eggs & pancakes breakfast for my hubby and kids. I'm glad I went out because I realized it's not for me. You won't see me doing that ever again.

You are a brave, wild woman -- Toys r us at the break of dawn! I have to admit that the sales they advertise are sometimes VERY tempting, but you just re-convinced me that it would be as awful as I had imagined. Cute Indian hats.
