This past weekend Grandma Ruthie, Aunt Becky and Cousin Cordelia visited us from Wisconsin. They arrived Friday night via Amtrak. Earlier that day we told Jake he could go to the train station to pick them up. When their arrival time grew closer he very seriously went to Daddy and said "Daddy, please put my in mommy's car and take me to the train station to get Grandma!". He was anxious to see the train and to greet his family.
Over the weekend we attended a Sterling Heights Halloween event and went trick or treating at the Detroit Zoo. On Sunday we picked pumpkins at the pumpkin patch. The kids enjoyed picking out their individual pumpkins for our front porch. Later that evening all 3 kiddos cleaned out their pumpkins. Jake was elbow deep into his pumpkin, with spoon in hand, scooping out guts and seeds. Cordelia and Casey barely even touched a seed. They didn't like the feeling of the inside of the pumpkins. I thought Casey would have enjoyed it since last year she played with the pumpkins for an hour, I guess this year the texture feels quite different to her.
Cordelia, Jake and Casey formed stronger relationships with each other over the weekend. Thank you for coming out and spending a few days with us.
