Earlier this month we attend SterlingFest, a three day festival hosted by our wonderful city of Sterling Heights. This has become a tradition of ours, this is probably our 5th year attending it. I took the kids up there all day Thursday to enjoy songs, crafts and entertainment in the kids tent. Their favorite was Rosco the Clown. He had Jake belly laughing on multiple occasions (he was my fav too!). We also saw a exotic animal show with alligators, snakes, and other animals but I forgot the names of them (they are very rare). The kids also made a beaded necklace and painted.

After the kids tent we enjoyed the carnival rides. Jake was excited to try to them all. I purchased a wristband for him that allowed him unlimited rides (saves me mucho bucks this way). Casey wanted to do the same, but there was a height restriction and she was allowed on only a few of them. On many occasions she was very patient as she watched her big brother go around and around on the flying elephants, turning catepillars and alligator roller coaster .

Every time we turned a corner we ran into somebody we know. In just one day we chatted with 5 sets of friends. Casey and Jake enjoyed riding on the cars with friends Jack and Allison.

After a yummy lunch of corn dogs, french fries, fresh squeezed lemonade and dippin dots ice cream we took a stroll through the craft fair (for mommy). By this time the kids were exhausted (and overheated) as was I. Oh..did I mention, it never fails that during the week of SterlingFest we hit highs of 95+ degrees, HOT & HUMID!. We headed home for afternoon naps and waited for Daddy to get home from work.
We picked up Daddy, and walked to the church to get on the shuttle bus to the fair. We took this mode of transportation earlier in the morning and it was hit for Jake and Casey. They loved riding on the city buses especially since they didn't have to be in their carseats. Thursday evening we met up with our friends Chrissy, Matt, Samantha and Spencer for the Balloon Launch and Concert. Each child is given a balloon and instructed to wait until the countdown before letting go. Just before the concert was to begin we all counted down from 10 to 1. It's an amazing sight to see hundreds (maybe thousands) of them soar up so high until they disappear). We stayed to enjoy Mommy's favorite band The Mega 80s. The kids came up with some great break-dancing moves for us.

Apparantly I didn't get enough from our long day to the fair on Thursday and I decided to take the kids back up for more on Friday morning. We again enjoyed the kids tent for more shows. We kept it short and ended it at lunch.
After two days with the kids, we decided to get a babysitter and Chris and I headed up on Saturday night to hang out in the beer tent and listen to another concert. Chris was disappointed in the beer selection of Bud and BudLight (the brand he dislikes the most), and it happen EVERY year. But you get a 24oz beer for $2 so you can't beat the price. We enjoyed a rock concert by David DeYoung (old lead singer from Styx). We only knew a few of the songs but enjoyed the entertainment and the alone time with each other.
Our next ADVENTURE, the Michigan State Fair!!!
