PUMPKIN CARVING: The morning before Halloween I cleared the kitchen and setup a pumpkin carving area. I laid down some clear plastic and setup the three pumpkins we picked from the pumpkin patch. Jake and Casey really enjoyed squishy their fingers through the pumpkin guts and seeds. Jake would pick up a handful and would yell out "EEEWWWW!". Casey watched while Jake and I cleaned out the first pumpkin and when we moved onto the next one, she very quietly went to the bowl of pumpkin guts and grabbed handfuls of the messy goo and placed it back into the original pumpkin it came from. Thanks sweetie!! On Halloween night Daddy did a great job setting up our pumpkin display. In the photo there are 3 plastic pumpkins on the left and 3 real ones on the right. I love decorating for Halloween.

THE FARMER: This year I dressed up Jake to be a farmer. In the past few months he has loved singing the "Old McDonald" song. And when I found a perfect costume for Casey (see below) I jumped on the opportunity to create a theme and coordinate Jake's costume to hers. Weeks before Halloween I told Jake what he was going to be and we started purchasing items to put it all together. We got the hat on the western website, the overalls from eBay, the plaid shirt from Old Navy, work boots from a mom-to-mom sale and the bandana and bucket from Michael's Craft store. We took the kids to 3 Halloween events. Jake loved wearing his costume to all of them and was the best farmer. He did great collecting all of his candy and loved when it was time to dump out his entire bucket to inspect all that he received. He was very interested in EACH and EVERY PIECE and wanted to know what everything was. He says to me: "What's this Mommy?" over and over again until he has looked at every piece of candy in his bucket. Some of his favorite pieces are: Twix, Animal Crackers & M&Ms.

THE BABY CHICK: Back in September while visiting family in Wisconsin I happened to be shopping at the mall and ran into this adorable Baby Chick costume from Children's Place. I loved it so much and had to get it for Casey. There were a few more items I still needed to finish the look. I found the orange undershirt at LLBean Kids, and the orange tights from Gymboree. It's very difficult to find orange tights. I was too excited to wait until Halloween to see what she would look like, so a week before I put the costume on her and snapped a few pics. She waddled around with a big smile on her face. At one point she went over to a mirror we have in Jake's room to see herself. During our Halloween events I was amazed at how quickly Casey caught on the concept of carrying her bucket and walking up to someone for a treat. After getting a few special candies in her bucket she would insist on plopping down and checking out what she received and wouldn't move until we gave her something. She enjoyed the suckers.

THE GANG: On Halloween night we had a blast trick or treating with our neighbor friends The Kozlowski's. Jen and Jim have 3 boys: Jacob (6), Josh (4), & Jack (1 1/2) and another boy due next month!. We took a group photo of The Farmer, Tigger, The Teddy Bear, Darth Vader and The Baby Chick. I think it's hilarious that you can't see Darth Vader. He is right behind the Teddy Bear and the Baby Chick. Jacob where are you????
